There was screaming. Lots of screaming as Bela stumbled back from her living room. And her screaming was soon joined by the screaming of the person—thing—whatever he/it was in front of her, and she was stumbling backwards, going for her gun and not bothering to question it for the moment.
She probably wouldn’t have reacted that way if she hadn’t been half asleep. Very few people had access to her apartment like that, and she usually knew them on site, but this person on her couch, she didn’t know. Not in the slightest. She was down behind the counter, reaching for her gun when she heard another voice enter the room—this one she knew a little bit better.
“Whoa, whoa, Bela—calm down.”
Bela looked up and Alec was standing in front of her, between her and the giant person that looked like he was wearing a dog’s face as a mask. Now that she was looking at him, he seemed more terrified than menacing, and so she focused her anger on the person she actually understood.
“Alec. What on earth—?”
“Look, we need a place to hide out, alright? There’s this NSA guy breathing down our necks and Joshua sticks out like a sore thumb. I figure if there’s anyone I can hide ‘em with and has the stones to stand up to Ames White, it’s Bela Talbot.”
He flashed her a grin that she automatically recognized as Dean’s when he was trying to charm someone out of something. Her eyes narrowed and she raised the gun, pointing it towards the ceiling, resting her elbow on her hand. “Flattery will get you nowhere. If you’ve figured all this out, you had to have presumed I’d want to help you, yeah?”
Alec just smirked. “Dean said you’d say that. And he also said that if you did, to remind you that—”
“I owe him,” she rolled her eyes, before placing the gun down on the counter. “Fine. He can stay. But not forever, just—until you get this sorted out.”
He brightened even more at that, if possible, and nodded. “Thank you.”
“You’re wel—” There was another shriek as she was cut off by the taller—man?—hugging her tightly.
“Thank you for being so nice to Joshua. Joshua appreciates it very much.”
Alec just grinned. “See? He already likes you.”
Oh, this was going to be a long few days.
