likely_evil used with permission. Set in
justtostayalive, and she’s rather put off that I’m making her write this. Just so you know.]
She shouldn’t feel this way, but she did.
She knew she had Sam, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, but there were parts of her that knew that there were some things about them that were—untraditional. After all, they were married before they even knew each other. They stayed married because of Michael, and while there were things Sam had done for her, great things, she had been pregnant with their child at the time. There were the doubts that would swirl around in her mind, the idea that eventually Sam was going to find someone who was more suited for him. That he would find someone he wasn’t bound to by circumstance or obligation, and he would let her go, and she would be alone, again.
It was like karma. What you put in is what you get out, and Bela wasn’t sure that this was what she was owed.
She looked at her life, and she looked at him, and she knew she wasn’t in any place to second guess. But in the end, the doubts would always be there. No matter how hard Sam managed to push them away.
