OOC: Meme!
In honor of my almost freedom, a meme for the masses. Since I have way way too many muses, I'm going to find a way to limit it -- somehow. Probably to my most active ones. But if you interacted with one of my muses in the past that I haven't listed here, feel free to ask, I'll be happy to oblige -- I just don't feel like typing them all out.
Name a character that you know I write or have written, and I'll tell you:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
Honestly? I haven't seen that much of Dark Angel. But he wouldn't shut up. So I sat down with a friend who was into the fandom and worked out all the kinks so that he was fandom-accurate, and I wasn't taking any major liberties with canon. I'm working on catching up with all episodes, but my source is revamping their site, so that's slow going.
One of his/her best traits.
His sense of humor. It really takes a lot to offend him, and he tends to let things roll off him quite easily.
One of his/her worst traits.
He's an ass. Seriously, he's not a nice person -- he's just smooth about it.
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Relatively difficult, because I don't know the canon that well, so I'm worried about canon puncturing. But his voice really isn't that hard at all.

Errmm -- haven't written him that much yet, but -- this is what I wrote for
My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
Definitely -- I'm hoping to develop him more and really get him out there.

He sounds very interesting and that piece was great.
Have fun catching up with Dark Angel. It's one of my favorite worlds.

I'm looking forward to it -- especially S2. I'm a huge Jensen Ackles fan.

Flack!
no subject
His snark. Flack makes me smile whenever he's on screen, and there was always something about him that I want to nail down regarding him.
One of his/her best traits.
His loyalty. Hands down.
One of his/her worst traits.
His loyalty. It's why he tries so hard not to think that people he works with may be dirty, and it's a big source of conflict between him and Mac.
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Flack and me are like one in the same at this point. Writing him is second nature.

My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
Definitely. I hope I keep writing him for a long time.

We love his loyalty, and I really like the prompt response.
We also hope you and Flack stick around for a while.

Flack has a way of sticking with me, so even if he goes quiet for a while, I know he'll come back to me eventually.

Umm... DAVID! (And Christopher... please!!)
no subject
What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
Actually, he demanded that if I was going to give Christopher some kind of attention, that was entirely unfair, and I should give him some as well. When I was reading the books, I wasn't exactly David's biggest fan (he was a bit pussy whipped), but older!David seems to be a bit more fun.
One of his/her best traits.
His loyalty and dedication. He would take a bullet (or an arrow, or a sword) for anyone he'd ever fought with, no questions asked. He would have been a Marine if he had stuck around in the real world, and he would have been fantastic at it. He's a very big fan of no one gets left behind.
One of his/her worst traits.
David is very literal. He's not witty in any sense of the word. Sometimes he has his moments -- he can pick up on innuendo and stuff when it comes from certain people (like Christopher, because he's rather used to it), but otherwise -- a lot of stuff goes over his head. Which is annoying at times.
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Depends on the day. David comes and goes, but certain things will perk him up again, and he'll give me little bits and pieces. As a character, he's relatively simple and not that hard to nail down, but its more of a matter of if he wants to talk to me.

Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori
My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
Definitely. I have a lot of fun writing future!him. It's interesting.
Christopher:
What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
Christopher has always been a favorite of mine. He's funny and snarky, and he added a lot to the story (Applegate's snarkier characters always tended to be my favorites.)
One of his/her best traits.
Christopher's very complex, but he's good at playing to the situation he's in. He knows how to blend in and not call attention to himself. He's also not afraid to say what he's thinking, which is always fun to play.
One of his/her worst traits.
He's a pig. And living in Everworld for twelve years where they treat women like shit didn't help him much. Now there's a few women he respects, and when he leers and is chauvinistic, it's all out of love, but with everyone else he does it to -- he's trying to get in your pants.
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Christopher is loud and to the point, which always makes things easier. But he's also very complex, which always makes things interesting and a bit more difficult.

I maintain that Cora is All Cassie's Fault. I will continue to maintain that till the day I die. (Or leave the game. Whichever comes first.)
One of his/her best traits.
She really can be sweet when she wants to be. And she's a good lawyer.
One of his/her worst traits.
She's so freakin' secretive.
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Cora's actually relatively easy. She gets very emotional in my head, so I think that makes it easy to figure out where she's gonna go, and if she's going to shut down.

The Fight. The more recent one, anyway.
My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
Probably will be writing her for a long, long time.
Riley:
What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
Riley is my baby, so to speak. He's always been a favorite of mine, and I love writing him.
One of his/her best traits.
He's very respectful, and he's got his convictions, but they're not all he is.
One of his/her worst traits.
He hates confrontation. So that often times leads to him peddling his way out of a situation, rather than standing up for himself (unless he's in court).
How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
Riley's like an extension of my left arm, I've been writing him so long.

As for Cora's sweetness, Larry likes to giggle and point: I saw that!

I have a thing for snarky, sneaky characters. Plus, I loved the way she interacted with the boys in "Bad Day at Black Rock," so I figured it would be a lot of fun to play her.
One of his/her best traits.
She's very self-sufficient, which is always interesting. She knows how to take care of herself, even when she's looking for help and doesn't exactly get it.
One of his/her worst traits.
Bela's quite the bitch. Especially when you steal things from her, and act like you're in the right
regardless of the fact that she stole it first. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
She's really easy. At first she was a difficult voice to get a handle on, but now it's like second nature.
The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
This will forever be my favorite Bela piece that I've written. Even though I kill her in it.
My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
Absolutely.
And hopefully Kripke won't kill her anytime soon.
