Picture Prompt

She had just finished dinner, and she balanced the glass of wine in her hand as she made her way over to the shelf. This was her final glass of the evening, and she was just starting to feel that lazy relaxed feeling that came with a good diner and a good bottle of wine, and it was now time for the last section of her nightly ritual, the one she needed a bottle of wine to actually get the liquid nerve to deal with in the first place. She took the spirit board off the shelf, leaving the glass in it’s place and making her way over to the coffee table, turning down the lights and lighting candles as she went.

She really didn’t need to play into the cliches, but she liked to anyway. It wasn’t so much a matter of the candles and the dim lighting was necessary for the communication to occur, but she liked it better that way. It was almost—calming.

She sat down on the floor next to her coffee table and crossed her legs under her, Indian style, rolling her neck slowly as she cleared her mind, letting herself relax and just commune with the silence. It seeped under her skin and just settled around her, putting her in that frame of mind where the disbelief, cynicism and pride were set to the side and she was just Bela. Spirits didn’t require any pretenses or promises, just a person on the other end. Bela was indeed a person, a person who was searching for some answers to the dilemma of the day.

Just Bela was really all she had to give.
